Um... does anyone realize...

...that not thinking your actions through result in undesirable consequences?

How many times have we caught this Administration endorsing pure propaganda? How does this make the case for Americans to trust the President?

I really don't have any axes to grind - I make observations... and this article doesn't win any points with me.

Trophy video exposed...

...does it ever stop?

'Trophy' video exposes private security contractors shooting up Iraqi drivers (Telegraph)

Capt Adnan Tawfiq of the Iraqi Interior Ministry which deals with compensation issues, has told the Sunday Telegraph that he has received numerous claims from families who allege that their relatives have been shot by private security contractors travelling in road convoys.

He said: "When the security companies kill people they just drive away and nothing is done. Sometimes we ring the companies concerned and they deny everything. The families don't get any money or compensation. I would say we have had about 50-60 incidents of this kind."

In times not too long ago, the term "private security contractor" didn't exist, but the word "mercenary" did.

Some underbody work...

I went ahead and decided to use blogger to power the main page... I wanted a more personal blog, yet wanted an easy way to maintain it. So, there you have it.

Anything that crosses my mind may show up here - from the mundane, to the personal, to the political, to the random day to day junk that's in all of our lives...

I don't want this to be a "I did this/I did that" venue, but rather a "when I did this, I was thinking this/...". Such as...

...I freaked yesterday because I thought it was Saturday, not Thursday. I pray for a particular church I'm familiar with. The church needs a vision, but some are unconsciously very willing to provide stumbling blocks to even the discussion of change. This church is at a crossroads, much like the greater Church. The urge to just maintain business as usual is comfortable - yet Jesus has a word for that... um... how do you say... lukewarm?

The struggles are Church-wide - they're imbedded within its culture. Apathy. Complacency. No accountability. Convenience. I know that a small number can affect change - that whole "1 + God = the impossible" notion - and I believe that a common vision with a sense of mission and accountability can quickly rectify the issues. I pray for that to happen.

I believe it will happen, for it must. This particular church has incredible potential to serve its growing community - to affect lives, big and small, to help those down and out, to define a mission and purpose and strive at that every day. The struggles here are common in many other churches - some have died, and some have made a great impact on those who walk through those doors and those around its building. Even though I get down on it at times, I am excited at the prospect of being within God's will and being apart of something great.

Time for bed.

Randomness

I haven't had much time to devote to this site - I decided to go with the more prominent banner to showcase some of my amateurish photography... I've taken a lot of photographs in the meantime but haven't added them yet. I'll try to do that soon.

I also will get my new laptop tomorrow, with a bigger screen... so my 725 pixel width banner may actually get bigger as I'll be one less person using an 800x600 laptop. I definitely need to cleanup the underpinning of the site for easier maintenance.

I've been staying busy with marriage, work, the new house, and the new kitten. I never understood when Bucky in Get Fuzzy would have his nightly 'freakouts' and just randomly run around the house - until now. Wow.
